INSIDE THE FABRICATION OF A K-MEMBER

A K-member might look like a collection of tubes, brackets and mounting points — but every part has a job.
When we are fabricating a K-member, it is not simply about making something that fits. Every mounting point, bracket and tube needs to be carefully considered for strength, alignment, clearance, weight, and serviceability.
Mounting Points
These need to accurately locate the K-member and transfer loads into the chassis. Precision here is critical.
Brackets and Gussets
They are designed to support components and manage the loads being transferred through the K-member without adding unnecessary weight.
Geometry Matters
Suspension pickup points need to be positioned correctly to maintain the intended suspension geometry and ensure the car performs as designed.
Strength Without Unnecessary Weight
A good race-car component is not simply built heavier. The goal is to put material where it is needed and remove it where it is not.
Clearance and Serviceability
Everything from steering and suspension components to exhaust and engine clearance needs to be considered during the design and fabrication process.
The finished product might look simple, but there is a lot of engineering and fabrication behind it.
At Profab Motorsport Fabrications, we believe every tube, bracket and weld needs to have a purpose.
