ANDRA Drag Racing Masters – Sydney Dragway
Share
We headed to Sydney Dragway for the ANDRA Drag Racing Masters on Friday 23 and Saturday 24 January, ready for a big weekend of racing.
Friday did not go to plan, with an ongoing transmission case issue causing problems throughout the day. After Friday night, we made the decision to change the gearbox in an effort to finally resolve issues that had been affecting us over the past couple of months.
The change paid off. In Saturday’s first qualifying run, we laid down a solid 5.98 @ 251 MPH, confirming that the issues were behind us. From there, we were able to slowly work our way back into the groove and focus on racing.
With two rounds leading into the final, we found ourselves up against good friend and customer Carl Cox. The first round was decided right at the finish line, with Carl taking the win by a razor-thin .040 margin — his 5.77 @ 245 MPH edging out our 5.87 @ 265 MPH.
The second round was another nail-biter, this time going our way with a .030 hole-shot win. Our 5.98 was enough to get past Carl’s quicker 5.73, setting the stage for an all-or-nothing final with one win apiece.
The final was everything you would hope for. We took the win with a 5.77 @ 240 MPH, after Carl unfortunately red-lit and aborted the run. It was a great way to cap off a weekend of extremely close and competitive racing.
A huge thank you to Carl Cox and the entire Carl Cox Motorsport team for an awesome weekend — great racing, plenty of laughs in the pits, and some top-tier banter all round. Carl did a fantastic job in the Cuda throughout the event.
Finally, thank you to our sponsors and supporters for backing us and supporting us over the weekend. We could not do it without you.
